NCCE is excited to announce our first graduates of the ISTE certification! Congratulations to Darcy Bakkegrad from Prairie Public Broadcasting! The ISTE Certification for Educators is a rigorous professional certification for ambitious educators, leaders, and coaches wishing to transform teaching pedagogy with digital learning. Using a hybrid model encompassing both face to face and online learning components. Darcy completed approximately 30 hours of dynamic instruction and activities and then assembled an eportfolio for the ISTE Certification Team.
Darcy Bakkegard is the teacher ambassador for Prairie Public Broadcasting in Fargo, North Dakota, where she leads professional development workshops, webinars, and 1:1 training for teachers across the state. With 10 years of experience teaching English and theater in public and private, rural and suburban, and international schools, she has taught every type of learner. Building from a BA in theater and years in educational theater, Darcy specializes in interactive strategies for the classroom, meaningful technology integration, and how to build meaningful relationships with students. In addition to having a master’s in secondary English education, Darcy is a Level 1 Google Educator and Edpuzzle certified teacher. She has presented workshops at the National Council of Teachers of English National Convention, the International School Conference of Turkey, and the Fargo-Moorhead Metro Area Tech Camp.

Would you encourage others to apply for the ISTE Certification process?
YES! The ISTE Certification process helped me hone my technical skills while refocusing on my educational philosophy. Far more than a technology integration training, I was able to further cultivate a culture of STUDENT FIRST activities, lessons, and initiatives in my work.
