NAME and TITLE: Russ Hendrickson, Senior Information Systems Manager
SCHOOL DISTRICT: Missoula County Public Schools
NCCE MEMBER SINCE: Originally from 1996, renewed again in 2017
Share with us – what is one new initiative you are working on in your district?
We have just completed 18 miles of a 21 mile fiber project connecting all building in our district together. This follows a district-wide network switch upgrade and complete IP restructure (among many other network upgrade projects over the past 2 years). Once we complete this next major infrastructure project, we look forward to working with our teachers to find innovative ways to put this new network to full use!
What is one strategy you use to have a more productive workday?
Team building! The more the members of our technology department have grown professionally to more productive our entire department becomes.
Name one thing your “mama always told you”?
Put family first. I pride myself in my work ethic, but it is always measured by the feedback from my family. Prioritizing my family keeps the necessary balance in my life.
When you “unplug” – what do you like to do?
Anything with my family. From snowboarding in the winter to summers on “The Mullet”, time spent with them is where I unwind. (BTW, we call our pontoon boat The Mullet… fishing in the front, party in the back!)
