With over 4000 members strong, NCCE would like to introduce you to a few peers. Every month we will take a snapshot of active NCCE members and find out what they are doing to make a difference in technology education.

NAME and TITLE: Charity Nix – Manager of Knowledge and Digital Strategy

SCHOOL DISTRICT: The University of South Carolina

NCCE MEMBER SINCE: 2013

What is one new initiative you are working on in your district?

We are in the process of integrating and migrating on-premise email to the O365 cloud to our faculty and staff at the University of South Carolina and all remote campuses. I will be the “go to” person for any additional education/training that will be needed with the migration. In addition to the O365 migration, I provide knowledge and training to any service we provide customers at the University. What is one strategy you use to have a more productive workday? I am encouraging and supporting colleagues in the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) to start using Teams as a method of communication/collaboration/organization for our projects and team communication. We have an O365 project team set up and the desktop support team, technical team, and communications team are all channels within the O365 team and everyone has access to knowledge and information that happens in meetings and throughout the process. It has been a successful way to help facilitate the usage as I am on 2 of those 3 smaller project teams.

Name one thing your “mama always told you”?

Always find a positive in every situation.

When you “unplug” – what do you like to do?

I like to spend time with my kids and spend time on or at the ocean. My favorite location is in the USVI and BVI.
